I started my career as a official at the Bank of England and moved to an academic post at Cambridge and Fellow of Clare College, Cambridge.
Subsequently, also to posts at St Andrews and Kent. From 2005 to 2007, I was at BNP Paribas watching the financial crisis unfold.
From 2012-2017, I served as Chair of the Money-Macro-Finance Society. And from time to time, since 2007, as Specialist Advisor to the House of Commons Treasury Committee.
From 2014-2018, I was the Mercers’ School Memorial Professor of Business at Gresham College alongside my main roles.
I sat on the Research Excellent Framework 2021 Panel C and then the Sub-Panel 16 for Economics and Econometrics.
Until its disbandment in 2018, I sat on the ESRC Research Committee.
